If you have ever wondered about the connection between West African and Caribbean cuisine, look no further than Waakye (pronounced wa-che)! A West African favorite, this dish is enjoyed at all times of the day. Chef Adjepong's recipe combines jasmine rice, organic coconut oil, and South Carolina grown red peas with red sorghum leaves that give the dish its beautiful red hue. An incredible aromatic red sauce finishes this delicious vegan meal.

Ingredients

Water, Jasmine Rice, Sea Island Red Peas, Bell Peppers, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Tomato Paste, Coconut Oil, Garlic, Olive Oil, Sea Salt, Canola Oil, Ginger Root, Habanero Peppers, Curry Powder (spices, Turmeric, Salt, Garlic (contains Mustard)), Baking Soda, White Wine Vinegar, Spices, Star Anise, Millet Leaves, Sugar.

Directions

Preparation Instructions: 1. Remove bowl from box and film, cover with - microwavable lid or microwave safe wrap. 2. Microwave on high for 3 minutes and 30 seconds or until fully warmed. 3. Let stand for 1 minute. Remove cover and stir. Do not thaw. Do not use a toaster oven. Caution: Microwave 30:30 product will be hot!

Keep frozen.
